'Weird'ly Strategic and Smart

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

“An idea is nothing more or less than a new combination of old elements.”

The adage is as true in advertising as it is in any other form of creative pursuit. What we love about the statement above is that it encourages people to open their minds to new possibilities in the things that already exist. Good ideas can be made great when looking at them through a different lens. But amazing ideas can explode when paired with SMART thinking, the right audience, the right timing and the right product. 

We couldn’t resist spreading some love for Weird Al Yankovic, an artist who has this whole concept wrapped up in a nutshell. He took his talent for creatively imitating others and evolved with the trends to build a impressive satirical empire… the SMART way. Most recently, his choice to release one song a day for a week to promote his new album shows just how in tune he is with the changing times. He clearly gets that in the digital age instant gratification and timely delivery of information is crucial when it comes to grabbing your audience’s attention and keeping it.

This strategic approach has put him back in the spotlight and kept him trending on social media 24/7 since the launch of the first video in the series on Monday, July 14. Much like the rest of the world, we can’t wait to see the next video.
